Simon & Debbie Rutherford launched the first micropub in Scotland in 2015.
5 years later, they sold the business to local businessman, Paul Mitchell;
"After a 30 year career in education and sometimes owning/operating businesses in the hospitality sector around conferencing, catering and accommodation, I moved to Kelso for the 'quieter' life. Not sure I achieved that, but Kelso is a great place to be busy! I am passionate about salmon fishing and have fished the Tweed for 20+ years and occasionally I even catch a fish. I love to be by the river whenever I can and also walking my dog in the beautiful Scottish Borders countryside. When I can get away I like to go ski-ing and I sometimes enjoy not behaving myself at music festivals and the odd sporting event.
Debbie and Simon launched Rutherfords 2 in 2021, which is available for hire across the country.
